Microsoft Vista Operating System
Microsoft released Vista, their new operating system in 2007. Blackboard (Bb) has tested Release 7 of the Blackboard Academic Suite with Microsoft Windows Vista using both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0. Microsoft Windows Vista is listed as compatible.
Compatible configurations are partially tested and should function properly for the most part. The following issue was uncovered during testing:
The Visual Text Box Editor controls do not function correctly with Internet Explorer 7 and Bb 7.0 because they require a component not available in Windows Vista. This will cause the Text Box in Discussion Board and essay questions to not display. Therefore, posts, responses and answers can not be typed in, since the text box is unavailable.
Users on Bb release 7.0 should turn off the Visual Text Box Editor (under My Institution>Personal Information>Set Visual Text Box Editor Options>Make Unavailable) or use Firefox 2.0. This will allow the text box to be displayed and posts, responses and answers can be typed in, but tool bars will not display.
