What is my student Blackboard username?

Your student Blackboard username is the same as your Campus Network Username (your email name without the @cup.edu). Example: For ngz3412@cup.edu, the username is ngz3412.

How do I login to Blackboard?

  1. In the address line of your browser type http://blackboard.cup.edu/ (You also can go to www.cup.edu, click on QUICK LINKS and click on Blackboard).

  2. Click on the Blackboard 7 link on this page.

  3. In the Login Here box, enter your Campus Network Username.

  4.  Enter your Blackboard password.  (Your initial Blackboard password is your 8 digit birth date, no spaces, hyphens or slashes.  Example: December 1, 1988 is 12011988)

How do I change my Blackboard password?

  1. Login to Blackboard.
  2. Click on the Courses Tab.
  3. Under Course List, click on a course name to access a Bb course.
  4. Click on Course Tools in the left menu area.
  5. Click on Personal Information.
  6. Click on Change Password.
  7. Enter new password.
  8. Verify by re-entering password.
  9. Click on Submit.

This will now be your password to login to Blackboard only.

How do I handle a clipboard access window that appears when I begin a Bb exam?

For exams, if you are getting a window asking if you would like to access the clipboard when you begin to take the exam and are then locked out of the exam, check the settings below:

In Internet Explorer, from the menu bar choose Tools>Internet Options. Click on the Security Tab. Make sure the zone selected is Internet.  Click on the Custom Level button and scroll until you locate the setting under Scripting Allow Programmatic clipboard access.  Set to enable. Click on OK twice to exit open windows.

 How can I get a text box to display in Discussion Board, test questions and survey questions?

1. Under the My Institution Tab in Bb you can choose Personal Information>Set Visual Text Box Editor Options>Choose Unavailable and Click on Submit.

2. Alternately, you can add the Blackboard site to the Trusted Sites zone (see handout).

3. Also, check the ActiveX setting in Internet Explorer, from the menu bar choose Tools>Internet Options. Click on the Security Tab.  Make sure the zone selected is Internet.  Click on the Custom Level button and scroll until you locate the setting Run ActiveX Controls and Plugins.  Set to enable. Click on OK twice to exit open windows.

I am using Vista and my text boxes do not display in test questions and discussion board.  What can I do to fix this?

Turn off the Visual Text Box Editor.  To do this:

Login to Bb.  Click on the My Institution Tab.  Click on Personal Information.  Select Set Visual Text Box Editor Options and make Unavailable and Submit.

How do I display the timer for exams in the Status Bar?

In the IE7 browser window choose Tools>Internet Options.  Click on the Security Tab.  Click on the Custom Level button.  Scroll to locate Allow Status Bar Updates via Script and set to enable.  Click OK to exit the open window.
